HARD LABOR CREEK RESERVOIR MITIGATION
WALTON & OCONEE COUNTIES, GA
2007 - current
While with another environmental consulting firm, Mark Nelson managed the design and permitting of a large-scale permittee-responsible stream and wetland mitigation plan, involving five different mitigation sites on properties owned by Walton and Oconee Counties.
The wetland and stream mitigation was required by the US Army Corps of Engineers as part of the Individual Permit issued for the Hard Labor Creek Reservoir, as being built by the Walton County Water and Sewerage Authority. Mark worked closely with his design team and Precision Planning, Inc. to prepare detailed construction plans for each of the restoration sites. Construction contractors were pre-qualified and the construction of all five sites was successfully complete in 2011. We continue to monitor the establishment of vegetation and stream stability, along with water quality and wildlife, in order to demonstrate successful mitigation.
